Call for papers

Submissions to present at the CALIBER Summit for AI-powered Research in Business & Economics are now open. We invite contributions that advance understanding of how artificial intelligence is transforming research, analysis, decision-making, and innovation across business, economics, and related fields.

We welcome papers from economics, finance, accounting, marketing, management, information systems, data science, and other evidence-based disciplines that examine the development, application, evaluation, or implications of AI-powered research tools and methods. Presentations and discussions of works in progress are strongly encouraged.

Submissions may cover applied, empirical, methodological, or conceptual work, including AI-assisted data analysis, large language models for research, security of AI tools, AI infrastructure, human-AI collaboration, and the use of AI in policy, industry, and organisational decision-making. We particularly welcome submissions from early career researchers, interdisciplinary teams, and researchers working at the interface of AI, business, economics, and society.

Submissions should include a full draft of the paper OR an extended abstract (Microsoft Word or PDF format), containing your full name, position and affiliations (and those of any co-authors) to CALIBER-AI@unimelb.edu.au.

If sending an abstract, it should be structured to include details of the aims, the empirical methods used, and results. Results should be included even if they are preliminary. Abstracts containing no results or no details of the methods will not be accepted.

Please share this with any colleagues or people within your network, especially new and junior staff, and PhD students, who may be interested in presenting.

Submissions deadline: Friday 31 July

All papers will be peer reviewed and judged primarily on the quality of their empirical content. Submitting authors will be notified of outcomes by Monday 10 August.

Session format: Four papers will be presented in each session. Each presentation should be 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for questions (25 minutes total time).
