Professor Lisa Cameron is the James Riady Chair of Asian Economics and Business in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. She leads the Melbourne Institute’s Disadvantage and Wellbeing in the Asia-Pacific group. Professor Cameron’s research examines the effect of social policy on well-being in Australia, Southeast Asia and China, particularly the well-being of disadvantaged and marginalised groups. She is a lead researcher on the evaluation of the expansion of social housing in New South Wales - Future Directions for Social Housing. The evaluation draws on linked administrative data, tenant interviews and interviews with stakeholders to assess alternative models of social housing provision.

Professor Cameron holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University and is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, a Distinguished Fellow of the Economic Society of Australia and an International Economic Association Fellow. Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed international journals, including Science and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and featured in media outlets, including the New York Times, The Economist and Time Magazine.
