Title: Paternity Leave and Parental Time Allocation: Evidence from Australia

Abstract: The presence of children in households amplifies gender differences in labour market outcomes, disproportionately affecting women. Paternal leave policies are designed to mitigate these disparities by encouraging a more equitable distribution of household responsibilities. This study investigates the impact of the 2013 Australian parental leave reform, known as the "Dad or Partner Pay" (DAPP) policy, which provides fathers with up to two weeks of paid leave at the national minimum wage. The analysis examines how this policy influences parental behaviour in both unpaid domains, such as childcare and housework, and in the paid labour market, including working hours and leave utilisation.
