Title: The Melbourne Institute Foundation Fellow Program: Where we have been, and where to from here?

Abstract: The Melbourne Institute Foundation Fellow Program began in 2019 to provide data analytical support to the Institute’s academic and engaged research efforts. It is also intended to attract recent top graduates with backgrounds in economics and data science to support the Institute’s initiatives. The Foundation Fellow Program provides a level of training in data analytics to inform economic and social policy, and a rounded experience in undertaking rigorous research, with the intention to provide a “foundation” for further career advancement through a PhD program or within industry. Following impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, juggling lives while working from home, we are now facing changing needs of data users, data custodians and funding organisations. This seminar will be delivered Dr Rajeev Samarage, the Melbourne Institute’s Data & Analytics Coordinator and will look at how the program is going, and embrace an open conversation on where to go from here.

Presenter: Rajeev Samarage, Melbourne Institute
