Household expenditure data finds that households reduce expenditure on health and house insurance when they enter into financial stress. This suggests that households see insurance as discretionary spending, which in turn raises issues about sharp rises in risk exposure in the early stages of financial stress.

This regularly held colloquium will showcase our projects and researchers. This is a forum that encourages discussion on how research insights should inform policy and practice. More information on the series is available here.
