Title: Familial Influence and Youth Offending in Singapore

Abstract: Centre for Research on Rehabilitation and Protection is housed within the Rehabilitation and Protection Group, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore. Our centre conducts rigorous research pertaining to youth rehabilitation and child protection. The presentation will share a few previous studies conducted by our centre, with a focus on familial influence on youth offending in Singapore. These studies assessed the predictive validity of the YLS/CMI in a non-Western context, examined the impact of childhood maltreatment on recidivism in youth offenders, and identified family profiles of youth offenders linked with youth reoffending outcomes.
